THE PARISH


Far from being solely a pilgrimage center, Manaoag is also a full-pledged parish whose outlaying barangays have pastoral needs of their own. With the growing number of the local faithful, the Parish of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary embarked on a program, which aims to put up concrete chapels that also serve us multipurpose in the barangays. To date, the parish constructed 20 chapels in almost all barangays in Manaoag. The various organizations comprising the Parish Pastoral Council are clustered into 5, they are as follows:

1. Permanent Committees
a. Worship- responsible for liturgical studies of the community; plan and participate in liturgical celebrations and events.

b. Education- define and plan the educational mission of the church; training and spiritual formation of scholars and their families; and sponsoring parish
    lecture forums.

c. Social Action- conceive, plan and direct services and activities intended to promote the temporal and social welfare of the people, with special attention
     to the poor, the sick, the elderly, and the helpless.

d. Temporality- act as disbursing officer

e. Youth- responsible for value formation and on-going Christian education for the development of the youth into young Christian leaders in preparation
     for their adult Christian leadership in the church and the community.


2. Religious Organizations. There are at present 10 religious organizations at the parish namely: Lay Dominicans, Adoracion Nocturna Filipina, Word Proclaimers, Legion of Mary, Confraternity of the Holy Rosary, Holy Name Society, Mother Butler’s Guild, Apostolada, Parish Youth Apostolate Council, Catholic Women’s League (CWL)

These organizations conceptualize and implement internal formation programs that are geared towards spiritual maturity inspiring and enabling its members to be effective witnesses to one another and others.

3. Auxiliary Group
a. Parish Catechetical Ministry. 12 catechists belong to the ministry. They conduct catechism classes in public elementary and secondary schools in Manaoag. They are also responsible for the preparation of first communicants including pupils from non sectarian schools. During Saturday and Sunday masses, they serve us usherettes inside the church. This is to maintain peace and order, and assistance to churchgoers.

b. Family Life Apostolate. FLA undertakes Pre-Cana Counciling Seminars for couples preparing for marriage which focus on natural family planning and responsible parenthood.

c. Knights of the Altar. Composed of young men, the altar servers undergo rigid training to prepare them to assist and serve at the celebration of the Holy Eucharist.

d. Extraordinary Ministers of the Holy Communion. After undergoing a spiritual formation seminar, they were granted the very special privilege of assisting in the distribution of Holy Communion.

e. Basic Ecclesial Community. The mission of BEC is to build and strengthen community in barangays. They also aim to foster Eucharistic renewal and spiritual growth, and becoming witnesses of Christ in the evangelization of individuals and communities. A coordinator heads of each the 28 BEC Chapters.


BEC activities are as follows:
  • Patron Saint feast celebration ( the parish offers free baptism)
  • Barangay masses
  • Mayflower Festival
  • Bible Study/ Prayer Meeting
  • Recollections, retreats
  • Aside from their respective activities, all these groups work and participate in other parish and shrine activities such as:
          
  • Our Lady’s Feast Day       
  • Mass Wedding (yearly)       
  • Marian Vigil       
  • Misa de Gracia       
  • Medical-Dental Mission       
  • Grand Caroling

    The parish has evolved as a community growing together and reaching out toward a life entrusted to service for the Lord, with the Blessed Mother as a model.
